OUR BOARD OF MANAGEMENT

Dr. Samora Otieno

Dr. Otieno is a seasoned public health and health systems practitioner with over 17 years of experience. A medical doctor specialized in healthcare management, he has held senior leadership roles in INGOs and the UK aid agency (FCDO). He chaired Kenya’s health donor coordination forum (DPHK) and served as Health Advisor and Chair of the Council of Advisors to the Governor of Nairobi. He is a strong advocate for effective health governance as the backbone of resilient systems.

Tom Mshindi

Tom is a seasoned media, advocacy, and development communication expert with decades of leadership experience. He has held top editorial and executive roles at Nation Media Group and Standard Group, and worked with UNICEF in New York and West Africa. He has consulted for global development organizations and is widely recognized for championing good governance and pioneering health journalism in Kenya. Tom also serves on several public and private sector boards.

Dr. Huwaida Bulhan

Dr. Bulhan is a strategic healthcare leader with global and local experience in primary healthcare, academia, and biotech. As a Senior Clinical Operations Lead for a multinational pharmaceutical company, she oversees regional strategy, capacity development, and innovation. She is passionate about leveraging research and partnerships to influence healthcare policy and governance in Africa, driving innovation and equitable access to care.

Amb. Mwende Mwinzi, CBS

Amb. Mwinzi is a dedicated philanthropist and former Kenyan Ambassador to South Korea. She has served on the National Economic and Social Council (Vision 2030) and as Assistant Vice President at a leading Wall Street investment bank. As founder of Twana Twitu, she is passionately committed to empowering the girl child through education and creating sustainable, inclusive development solutions globally.

Dr. Nelly Bosire,Executive Director

Dr. Nelly Bosire is a medical doctor with a background in obstetrics and gynaecology. She is a thought leader with a passion for excellence in patient outcomes. Her long experience in the health regulatory environment, serving in various capacities, drives her focus on the need to improve health systems through strengthening of health governance.

She has previously served as a member of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council where she chaired the Training, Assessment and Registration Committee. She continues to serve there as a member of the disciplinary and ethics Committee and a member of the KMPDC examination board.

She has served in numerous technical working groups in the Ministry of Health, developing policies and guidelines, especially in the space of reproductive health. She has also served in hospital boards, professional society boards, and boards of non-governmental and community-based organisations that focus on policy advocacy.

Nelly consults widely for multiple organisations, including the Kenya Paediatric Reserach Consortium, the Kenya Ethical and Legal Network, the International Rescue Committee, Amref Health Africa and FIDA Kenya. She also sits on a WHO SAGE working group.

She is the founder of the Africa Health Governance Institute, and serves as its first Executive Director.

OUR TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Geoffrey Injeni

Dr. Injeni has over 20 years of experience across academia, consulting, and financial services. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance and is a Fellow of ICPAK and ACCA. A faculty member at Strathmore Business School, he has held leadership roles at the university and serves on multiple boards. He brings deep expertise in health financing and integrated reporting.

Njeri Gitau

Njeri is an IT expert with over two decades of experience in enterprise systems, stakeholder engagement, and digital health innovation. She is skilled at aligning technology to business goals, simplifying complex systems, and enhancing digital transformation across health systems. Her work continues to shape the future of health data and information systems in Africa.

Eunice Tole

Eunice is a specialist in patient safety with deep roots in nursing and hospital quality systems. She currently serves as Director of Quality and Risk at a top East African health institution. With experience in disaster coordination, regulation, and international accreditations, she advises on clinical governance and sits on several national regulatory boards.

OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM

Dr. Wangeci Mbuthia

Dr. Wangeci Mbuthia, Director of Programmes, is a practising obstetrician and gynaecologist with 16 years of clinical and programmatic experience. She has led national obstetric emergency response initiatives and HIV/AIDS programmes, bringing a strong focus on maternal health systems. As the current Course Director for the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) training in Kenya, Dr. Mbuthia is deeply engaged in medical education and clinical research to enhance the quality of care in resource-limited settings.

Valentine Bande

Valentine Bande, Executive Administrator, is a highly efficient and results-oriented professional with over 10 years of experience in organizational support and executive coordination. She is known for driving process improvements, streamlining internal operations, and ensuring exceptional stakeholder satisfaction. Innovative and culturally sensitive, Valentine excels at nurturing strategic relationships and maintaining high-performance administrative systems that support organizational goals.

Wanjiru Mwangi

Wanjiru is a results-driven project manager with expertise in planning, executing, and monitoring development and health-related initiatives. She excels at managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring timely delivery, and aligning project goals with institutional missions. Her leadership ensures seamless coordination and measurable impact across programmes, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, budget oversight, and adaptive project design for dynamic environments.
